Training Plans
Our training plans work. They are tailored to the individual. They are NOT generic.
Each plan is crafted by Ian Mayhew. Ian has been delivering internet based training plans for seven years. During this time he has consistently helped athletes achieve their goals and improve their performances. This is accomplished through the provision of achievable plans that look for long term gains, rather than short term fixes and stress quality over quantity.
The number of athletes in receipt of training plans is strictly limited to ensure each athlete receives the level of attention they deserve. Ian is a qualified British Cycling, British Triathlon and UK Athletics coach and holds a BSc (Hons) in Sports Science and Business Management from Brunel University. His final year dissertation focussed on the biomechanics of pedalling. Ian recently completed his Masters in Exercise and Nutrition Sciences, during the course of this he focussed on the nutritional needs of endurance athletes. His current research interests include the ergogenic potential of honey and the physiological and psychological demands of ultra distance cycling.
Ian will be taking his NSCA Strength & Conditioning Exam in January and is considering various Phd options in order to further develop his knowledge and understanding of sports nutrition.
Ian also has a wealth of 'racing' experience to draw on including ten Ironman distance race finishes, two Ultraman race finishes in 2005 and a third place in RAAM (Race Across America) in 2006 as part of a 4 person team. In 2008 Ian is planning to develop his ultra running experience.
Whilst Ian prefers to take part in longer distance events he coaches athletes over all distances and disciplines. Notable successes include helping Matt Rees break 2 hours for an Olympic distance triathlon and Jez Statham earn his place on the GB age group team.
The plans are delivered in Excel format in four weekly blocks.
The first block this costs £50, this takes into account the additional work required in its preparation and includes ‘standard’ membership to gearsandtears.club (Our British Cycling, BTA, CTTC and UK Athletics affiliated club). All athletes on plans must maintain membership of our the club. The cost then falls to £40 per month thereafter. That’s just £10 per week for an individually tailored training programme.
Due to the success of our training plans we have an exceptionally low turnover rate of athletes. Ian will not take on more athletes than he can cope with. If you are serious about improving let us know and subject to an available slot we will be able to help.
