Monsterman® II Race Pack
This year we are offering you the chance to download your race pack direct from our website. Please note the directions to the site are provided for your use on race day. These sites are owned by the MOD & we pay to use them for the races. Please do not assume you can turn up & use the site freely before and after our race. If you do you may find yourself interfering with a training exercise or upsetting the land agents and jeapodising future events.
The Run Leg
This is a pure off road run. Please consider wearing footwear designed for off road running (i.e NOT racing flats), as you will benefit from having some grip on your soles! There will be a mass start on the first run leg, with competitors exiting the transition on a wide track. After a short while the route takes you up your first hill of the day. This is relatively short but has a friendly little kick at the top! The route then follows a series of tracks ‘gently’ taking you to the furthest and highest point on the run route. A mix of tracks, some sandy, some muddy, then begin to take you back toward the transition zone. You are then treated to a steep, but straight descent. If it is wet please exercise some discretion on this. At the bottom of this the sandy track will sap you of any excess leg speed before a series of ups and downs takes you back to the conclusion of the lap.
The Transition
The transition zone is sited on an old airfield, it will be clearly marked and there will be distinct entry and exit points. There will be ample purpose built racking for all and plenty of space for kit etc.
The Cycle Leg
This is a more challenging course than MMI due to the length of some of the climbs. Each lap involves a full range of terrain but is more testing than the Monsterman® I route due the length of some of the hills & the sandier nature of the ground on some sections of the route. It can safely be tackled by all though, it was designed using a cyclo- cross bike and all parts of the course can be ridden.
In addition to the hills there are some nice descents too.
